April 2005
April 2, 2005: Dio

This week's featured Revival artist is Dio.  The song "One
More For The Road" comes from the 2004 cd
Master Of The
Moon
on Sanctuary
Records and if you're a Dio fan, I'm sure you'll like it.
Something else that may be of interest to you is Dio's new
dvd "Evil Or Divine: Live In New
York City".  It was just released this February.  Also, in June
we can look forward to "Stand Up And Shout", an anthology
of all the Dio videos.  Get all the information on Dio that you
could ever want on their newly revamped website at
www.ronniejamesdio.com.
April 9, 2005: White Lion

This week's Revival song is “When The Children Cry”, a new
recording  featured on the 2005 cd “Vh1 Classic: Metal Mania
Stripped”.  A short while back a friend of CWR called the
show to tell me about this new cd
he had just picked up.  He described it as a compilation of
acoustic ballads – all songs that you’d hear on CWR.  I can’t
resist a good 80’s
rock compilation so I bought it off Amazon.com and now I’m
sharing one of these songs with you.

As far as the band is concerned, Mike Tramp’s White Lion
tour is
winding down.  The shows were recorded for a possible dvd
so I’ll keep my ears open and let you know if I hear anything
more about that.
There’s also “The Ultimate White Lion” cd that was released
on
January 4th of this year.  It has re-recordings of previous
material and
has faced mixed reviews.  Nevertheless, “Metal Mania
Stripped” is         most definitely worth picking up.  If you
want more info on Mike Tramp’s White Lion, or just to stare
at this beautiful specimen of a man, check out his website at
www.miketramp.com.
April 16, 2005: The Scorpions

This week's featured song is “New Generation” from the 2004
cd         Unbreakable.  It’s their 20th album and available on
Sanctuary Records.  Klaus’ voice is still amazing and you can
never go wrong with Rudolf Schenker.  Schenker wrote the
music and Klaus, the lyrics for this song.  Other worthwhile
tracks include “Love ‘Em Or Leave ‘Em” and “She Said”.  The
cd also includes some very cool features including a video
message, picture gallery and bio.

They just finished up a UK tour with Judas Priest and are
working on a DVD which includes live concert footage and a
historical documentary.  After the DVD is finished, they’ll
begin working on a new cd scheduled to be released later this
year.  Hopefully a tour will follow.  For more info on the band,

April 23, 2005: UFO

This week's song “When Daylight Goes To Town” is from the
2004 cd         You Are Here.  The band lineup includes Phi
Mogg, Pete Way,  Paul Raymond, Vinnie Moore and Jason
Bonham.  Though it’s not the same
as when Michael Schenker was a part of the band, the new
lineup of
UFO still knows how to deliver hard  rock – or as Mogg
describes it, “typical UFO with a twist”.  As a matter of fact,
last January
Classic
Rock Magazine
voted this  cd  #6 of the Top 50 albums of
2004.  Furthermore, I’ll confess, this was one of the most
difficult weeks for
me to choose a “Revival” song because all of them are
awesome!

On May 13th, the band is recording a live DVD at their show
in         Northern Germany.  It’s the first DVD in over 30 years
of UFO’s history.
If you plan on being overseas around this time, go to their
website where you can buy tickets to this special event –

April 30, 2005: Sammy Hagar

It’s the weekend before Cinco de Mayo and what better time
to feature
the Red Rocker?  “Thinking Of You”, from the 2004 cd
The
Essential
Red Collection
, is this week's "Revival" song.  This previously
unreleased track was written in 1974 as a demo that resulted
in his first solo record deal.

Sammy is teaming up with the Hard Rock Café this Cinco de
Mayo.
They’re going to have three Cabo Wabo drink specials and
will be
giving away a Sammy Hagar autographed guitar at 10 of their
locations – none of which is Sacramento!  Whatever.  Anyway,
Sammy’s also busy playing for a sold out crowd this weekend
at
Harrah’s Tahoe.  However, you can still get tickets to see him
in Santa Rosa on May 26th and again at Harrah’s Tahoe on
August 13th.
For more info on him check out
www.redrocker.com.
